No one tells tou this: 5 emotions that are normal when you're pregnant

Mirthe Grooten

Pregnancy often conjures up images of happiness and joy. But in reality, it's an emotional rollercoaster. Fear, uncertainty, confusion—it's all part of it. The good news? You're not crazy or weird.

Here are 5 emotions that are completely normal during your pregnancy, and how to embrace them.

1. Fear – about health, childbirth, the future

It's natural to worry. You're carrying new life and want the best. Take a deep breath, talk about it with your partner or a friend, and seek out information that reassures you. Mindfulness and breathing exercises can also help you reduce tension.

2. Uncertainty – about your body, your role as a mother

Your body is changing rapidly, and that can feel unfamiliar. Doubts about your new role are also perfectly normal. Be kind to yourself and recognize that no one is perfect. It's helpful to share your experiences in a pregnancy support group or with a coach.

We're doing our best to create a community where pregnant women can support and guide each other. Hopefully, you'll find that on our social media channels.

3. Sadness – about letting go of your old life or other matters

Sometimes you feel sadness without being able to place it exactly. It might involve saying goodbye to the way things used to be, or not being able to do certain things anymore. Allow yourself to feel these feelings and talk about them. Sometimes tears are the best self-care.

4. Joy and pride – but with an undertone of tension

Yes, there are also light, happy moments. These are often connected to the future. But it's okay if tension remains. Celebrate your small successes and be proud of yourself. You're doing well. Whatever you do, you do it your way.

5. Confusion – about all the changes and emotions

Pregnancy is an intense time full of contradictions. Emotions can fluctuate rapidly. Try not to worry too much and accept that it's part of life. Whether it's hormones, situations that cause confusion, or conflict, your feelings are there and are allowed to be there.

Self-care tip

Prepare an "emotional pampering kit" for yourself: a soft journal to record your feelings, a relaxing scent, a nice cup of tea, and a loving note to yourself.
